This sacred temple is one of the other Sidh-Peeths of Haridwar which is positioned just the opposite hill of Mansa Devi. Chandi Devi along with Mansa Devi is worshiped as Goddess Parwati (wife of Siva) by devotees more than ever during Navratrees. This temple is also reached by following the trekking-course.
Haridwar is one of the holiest Cities in India where copious temples are present. Chandi Devi temple is one of them. This temple is situated at the top of the hill at a distance of 4 kilometers from ‘Hari Ki Pauri’ which is reached either by trekking path or cable Car. The temple is fairly famous because of its religious significance. Chandi Devi means Goddess ‘Chandika’, an annoyed form of Ma Durga since she is the destroyer of the demons like Chand-Mundand and Shumbh- Nishumbh. It is believed that after killing these demons Devi Chandika relaxed for a while at this place, therefore it is called a Siddhapeeth. There are two tiny hills both the sides of ‘Hari Ki Pauri’, one of them is Chandi Devi however the one is known as Mansa Devi. Pilgrims are to visit both the temples while visiting Haridwar.
