Begin Your Sacred Char Dham Yatra at the Origin of the Goddess Yamuna in the Himalayas

Yamunotri Dham (यमुनोत्री धाम) yatra is the most sacred yatra on earth and Yamunorti shrine is located in the opposite direction of Gangotri and visitors can reach it via Dharasu, a place that falls between Rishikesh and Uttarkashi. It is surrounded by the snow peaks of Himalayas that provide a scenic view to visitors. There are many hot water springs near the shrine, ‘Surya Kund’ being the most famous one. This place has the source of river Yamuna and is located at a height of 3235 mts. above sea level. The river’s source is 1 km away and located at 4421 mts. It is said that those who bathe in its water, gets cleansed of sins and remain protected by its holy waters against all kinds of illness. Since reaching this point is very difficult, so most of the tourists visit the shrine to offer prayers and then return. Those who wish to stop can stay in nearby aashrams and lodges for 2-3 days. Best time to visit this place is from October to November.
